STAGE 1: BLUE

LEARNING OUTCOME 1

Can suit up in a fencing kit and hold a sabre.

LEARNING OUTCOME 2

Be able to understand the equipment and footwork in fencing.

Be able to suit up for activity and utilise footwork skills to improve competence.

LEARNING OUTCOME 3

Be able to react to the movements of others.

LEARNING OUTCOME 4

Can suit up in fencing kit and hold a sabre.

Able to defend an attack using a parry.

STAGE 2: YELLOW

LEARNING OUTCOME 1

Can suit up for activity and utilise basic skills in a fencing game.

Be able to know how to move in fencing.

Understanding the dimensions of the piste and the necessity of linear movement.

LEARNING OUTCOME 3

Able to attack an opponent with an extended arm.

LEARNING OUTCOME 4

Able to defend an attack using a parry.

Able to combine the correct footwork and arm movement in attack to score.

STAGE 3: GREEN

LEARNING OUTCOME 1

Can suit up and utilise footwork to best use the sabre.

Be able to attack an opponent using an extended arm.

Understanding the benefits of attacking from a distance.

LEARNING OUTCOME 3

Able to attack an opponent and react after their attack.

Able to demonstrate repeat and parry techniques to defend.

LEARNING OUTCOME 5

Able to transition from defence to attack.

LEARNING OUTCOME 6

Able to use the skills learnt to fence competitively against a variety of opponents.

 

STAGE 4: BRONZE

LEARNING OUTCOME 1

Can suit up and utilise footwork to best use the foil.

LEARNING OUTCOME 2

Be able to attack an attack using a parry.

Identify and utilise a method to block attacks.

LEARNING OUTCOME 3

Able to attack an opponent, as well as retreat and defend when needed.

LEARNING OUTCOME 4

Able to use good decision-making when attacking and defending.

LEARNING OUTCOME 5

Able to use good decision-making when attacking and defending.

LEARNING OUTCOME 6

Able to use the skills learnt to fence effectively against a variety of opponents.

 

STAGE 5: SILVER

LEARNING OUTCOME 1

Demonstrate how to suit up quickly and utilise footwork skills to increase competence with the foil.

LEARNING OUTCOME 2

Be able to move using the correct footwork and arm movement.

Can combine footwork and attacking skills to score.

LEARNING OUTCOME 3

Able to perform methods of defence to stop and block an opponent’s attack.

LEARNING OUTCOME 4

Able to use demonstrate different strategies to be successful in a bout.

Able to work effectively in a team and take a leadership role when required.

Able to use attack and defence skills to fence effectively against a variety of opponents.

 

STAGE 6: GOLD
