UNLOCKING

      YOUR TRUE

POTENTIAL

We Are Forging Futures harnesses the exciting world of swordplay as part of a
distinctive learning journey to help more young people engage in lifelong
learning – unlocking untapped potential, renewing self-belief and opening
up a world of possibilities.

INSPIRING PROGRAMMES

One of our first pioneering programmes is for 4-14 year olds. Ofsted-aligned and focused on resilience & self-efficacy, its 36 lesson plans span six development stages and link to British Fencing’s Achievement Awards. Backed by hands-on teacher training from the UK’s fencing experts, the material aligns with existing curriculum, so teachers are supported and empowered.

BEYOND PESSPA

By providing positive experiences through purposeful play and introducing personal development themes, We Are Forging Futures stretches and challenges self-perceptions, renews self-belief and instills confidence to access other learning opportunities, in and out of school – inspiring the next generation to get active and build a better understanding of themselves and others.

PROFESSIONAL CPD

As a powerful agent of change, We Are Forging Futures makes a valuable contribution to the personal development of your teachers as well as children. Broadening and enhancing schools’ PESSPA (PE, School Sport and Physical Activity) provision, it can revitalise teaching and learning and open up a whole world of new, exciting possibilities for your people.

OUR IMPACT

95% of schools partnered with us are state funded by the Department for Education.

By the end of 2024, 33% of our partner schools were in the poor Health and Disability domain.

By the end of 2024, 36% of the school pupils partnered with us were in the most Deprived Places.

32,828 pupils have been given the opportunity to fence at school.

Since 2023, 9 SEND Schools have partnered with us.

10,360 pupils who attend our partner schools are eligible for Free School Meals.

Our aim is to make sport accessible to all young people, tackling inequalities and challenging the stigma of fencing being elitist and reserved for the upper class.

SUPPORTED BY…

We have introduced fencing across our curriculum in years two, years four and year six so it’s progressive and you notice children are really eager to get better, to improve on a weekly basis which has been great to see.

It’s definitely been useful for supporting physical literacy in the sense they’ve definitely engaged with a lot of fundamental skills such as footwork, so you can see that really develop week on week, and then you can also see that their reaction times to things has definitely increased as they get more skilled and as they progress through the school.

You can also see that their cognitive abilities as well as fine motor skills have improved as well, and it’s great that it’s an inclusive sport so everyone can take part.

MAGGIE

SALUSBURY PRIMARY SCHOOL PE LEAD

We’ve got children that really struggle in a classroom environment and they have thrived… they are disciplined, they follow instruction, their listening is improved and they share their skills with other people.

Fencing, they recognise they have to be sensible and they really focus… even those kids that struggle with focus, because it’s physical, because it’s precise, can do that.

Where I’ve got students that may be wheelchair users… seeing them engaging with that sport equally with their peers, it doesn’t get better.
