Resilience and Self-Efficacy Programme AND TEACHER TRAINING
Crown Hills Community College joined in 2019 and had immediate success with fencing and operate in North West Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth, Blaby, Harborough, Rutland, Melton, Charnwood and Leicester areas. The license provides Crown Hills with full training and support to deliver the Ofsted aligned Resilience and Self-effiacy programme and teacher training, so they can be the experts locally for community fencing. As a Deleiver+ partner they can train up teachers (and their own staff) in the ‘British Fencing Core Coach’ programme to teachers in the area, introducing fencing to schools with an emphasis on fun, accessible experiences.

CROWN HILLS COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Crown Hills are in the top 12% of schools nationally, Crown Hills blends a 70 year history of inclusive education with an innovative, forward-looking approach to providing a state education like no other to 1500 students from the inner-city backgrounds.
Crwon Hills entered the British School Team Championships in 2019 and the girls U15 Sabre team got Brownze for the first time in their school history. Showing that anyone can get competent and feel confident in fencing, then go on to have success – this is a photo from the event:
Watch this testimonial video to find out more and if this is of interest then find out how Crown Hills can train you up to become training to deliver fencing yourself. Crown Hills even can hire out the equipment for you and your school too, so you can build up slowly and embed fencing into your curriculum.
AN EXAMPLE OF A…
HOLISTIC APPROACH
Around 600 pupils each year get exposed to fencing in curriculum time at Crown Hills Community College as they have embedded it. Students then can also apply to do fencing as a specialist subejct with an exeperience fencing coach coming in on a Monday morning to support their development.
In the lead up to Tokyo we worked in partnership to do an activation that would touch all of the 1400+ pupils with a sticker piste concept, so all students could have a go. It was launched in 2021 by GBR Fencer Yasmin Campbell and since then the school has gone on to win awards attributing some of the schools success to fencing as well as the local BBC attending highlighting the opportunities Crown Hills are affording young people to view themselves and their ambitions.
